Alexa Doorbell Press Routine
In the Alexa app, you can now create routines that are triggered with a doorbell press or motion sense. My Netvue Belle shows up as having the capability to create these routines.
I’ve created a routine that announces “Someone is at the front door.” & turns on the doorway light however my routine is not run when pressing the doorbell. I assume that all smart doorbells (Nest, Ring, Arlo, etc.) show up as having this feature and that Netvue still needs to implement it. I’d love to be able to run custom routines with my Netvue Belle.
I've attached screenshots showing where this is in the Alexa app. Thanks, Netvue!
Edit: Did some looking around and the Alexa team posted this article a while back explaining the new Doorbell Event Source and Motion Sensor APIs for smart home Alexa skills: https://developer.amazon.com/blogs/alexa/post/bca5a5d0-6ec0-4636-8c52-4e7fa9547d2c/announcing-doorbell-chime-announcements-and-2-way-communication-apis-unlocking-new-customer-scenarios-in-home-automation-and-monitoring
BIG UPDATE on Amazon Alexa - motion and doorbell ring call notification is available now!
First you need to re-link(disable-enable) the skill, and then turn on the “Doorbell Press” or "Motion" on Alexa app to receive notifications and set routines. (Please notice that it only works for the “Netvue live video” skill. )
Doesn't work for me.
Is it because I'm in the UK? Or doesn't it work with the Vuebell?
Hi Mike, there was a bug of the Skill in Europe which has been fixed now. Please re-link(disable-enable) the skill, and then turn on the “Doorbell Press” or "Motion" on Alexa app. Then it should works.
Hi. Have set this up as required but am not getting any alerts and routines setup don’t run, I.e. turn on light when vuebell motion detected. Anyone got any thoughts?
Hi Chris, please re-link(disable-enable) the skill, and then turn on the “Doorbell Press” or "Motion" on Alexa app.
Thanks for the info re disable/enable the live video skill, it now works - almost.
I can create a routine that, when motion is detected turn a smart light on and it works.
However if I create a routine that, when motion is not detected for 5 minutes turn the same smart light off, it doesn't work!
So am I doing something daft or should this work and there is a bug?
