Alexa & Home Automation Improvements
Alexa support for controlling cameras
Home automation customers commonly use their Alexa/Google Home devices to “Arm” their systems when their leaving their home, and disarm when returning home.
Currently, we have no way of turning on/off “Sleep” mode, or “Motion Detection” using Alexa, or othe home automation devices. This prevents us from setting up routines like “Alexa, atm my home”, wherein the cameras would enable motion detection, start recording, etc.
The two main issues here are constant motion detection notifications & privacy:
1. When home, I get endless motion detection alerts on my indoor cameras. This leads me to ignore them altogether or silence them.
2. When home, it is a privacy concern to have indoor cameras recording constantly. Imagine you have a “night in” with a loved one, and you’re being recorded all night.
We need the Alexa skill to enable us to change the “Sleep” status, and possibly other settings on the cameras. This is already supported in other devices like air purifiers, oils diffusers, etc.
Any progress on this would be greatly appreciated and helpful in making Netvue products more home-automation-friendly.
